History

Boeing 727-223, serial number 21089, line number 1263, first flight 4 May 1977. Delivered to American Airlines on 13 May 1977, registered N862AA. Withdrawn from use 3 Feb 2002, arrived Mojave 4 Feb 2002, total time 67663, 40720 l, Wells Fargo Bank Northwest 20 Feb 2002, Pegasus transferred 1 Mar 2002, Wells Fargo Bank Northwest to Grand Central Airport, Midrand 31 Jan 2003, cancelled 11 Mar 2003 repossessed for Ariana Afghan, presum not taken up. Operated by Alpha Omega Airways (Swazil.) as YA-FAL. Seen 19 Nov 2002 white/gray colour scheme no titles Kabul, passengers service for Ariana, seen 3 Dec 2002 seen at Sharjah International Airport, but contradicts USA sightings in 2002 and 2003 and dirty ex AA colour scheme as seen with Mutare Airport, see below. Operated by UTA as 3X-GDM. Departed Mojave, to Miami, seen Conakry 28 Jun 2003 not confirmed, in Africa by 8 Jul 2003, seen Dubai International Airport Aug 2003 small Mutare Airport titles, basic AA colours (blue instead of red cheatline), seen at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport 20 Oct 2003 on Mutare Airport night passengers service to Conakry, Abidjan, seen at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport hangar 14 Nov 2003, first repossessed to be the crashed AC, see 21090, also the "missing" 20985 ex N844AA might be associated to Mutare Airport as it seems unlikely that YA-FAL became 3X-GDM based on dates and colour scheme. Operated by Libyan Arab Airlines as 3D-AAK. Tripoli full colours as 3X-GDM, probably seen 22 Dec 2003 re-registered (one unconf report this AC as (ex) 3D-FAK, see construction-number 21370), seen 19 Apr 2007 TIP white, so not crashed 2003, but has never actually flown for owner Libyan Arab, seen at TIP 14 Jun 2009 white/gray colour scheme doing business as bit like YA-FAL (but gray area in service higher), so perhaps 3D-AAK in service ex YA-FAL but never to 3X-GDM. Current status: stored.
